Electrical installation services are where a design either becomes a reliable asset or becomes a decade of intermittent faults. The work itself is not glamorous — terminations, torque values, containment, labelling, segregation — but the difference between installation done properly and installation done quickly shows up in every year of the asset's life afterwards.

Electrical installation scope
Our electrical installation work spans LT and HT systems across generation, distribution and utilisation.
- Cable laying, glanding and termination — LT and HT, including cable trays, ladders, trunking, conduit and underground ducting.
- Panel and switchgear installation, alignment, busbar connection and interconnection.
- Transformer installation and connection, including oil handling and pre-energisation checks where applicable.
- Distribution board, ACDB, DCDB and combiner box installation.
- Earthing systems — electrodes, conductors, bonding and equipotential connections — and lightning protection installation.

Mechanical and structural installation
Electrical work rarely arrives without mechanical scope attached. Structures have to be erected, equipment set and aligned, and civil interfaces resolved.
- Solar mounting structure erection, alignment and torque verification.
- Module installation with clamping to manufacturer specification, since incorrect clamping zones can void a module warranty.
- Equipment foundations, plinths and bases, including charger and transformer foundations.
- Skid and package equipment setting, levelling and grouting.
- Support steelwork, cable route supports and containment fabrication.
- Lifting operations planned and executed under a lift plan with appropriate equipment and competent supervision.
Quality control during installation
Quality on an installation site is a function of what is checked at the moment it can still be corrected. Once a cable is buried or a structure is loaded, an inspection finding becomes a rework instruction.
Hold points
Defined stages where work stops for inspection and sign-off before it is covered or energised — foundation before backfill, structure alignment before module loading, terminations before enclosure closure, cable route before trench backfill.
Records captured live
Torque values against specification, cable test results, insulation readings, earth resistance measurements, and photographic records of work that will be concealed. Captured on the day, referenced to the drawing and the location.
Materials control
Verification that delivered material matches the specification, correct storage of moisture- and UV-sensitive components, and traceability from delivery through to installed position for major equipment.
Working safely on live and occupied sites
Most installation work happens where something is already running — an operating factory, a live substation, an occupied building, a functioning car park. That is a safety problem before it is a logistics problem.
- Isolation and permit-to-work procedures agreed with the site's own operations team, not assumed from a standard template.
- Proving dead and applying locks and tags before work starts on any circuit, without exception.
- Physical segregation between the work area and site operations, including public areas where relevant.
- Working-at-height controls for rooftop and structure work, including edge protection and fall arrest.
- Excavation controls with service scanning before any digging, since unmapped services are the norm rather than the exception.
- Daily briefings covering the day's specific hazards rather than generic reminders.
Installation to another party's design
We install to designs produced by others regularly. Before starting, we review the design for constructability and for anything that would prevent a safe, compliant installation — undersized containment, missing clearances, unachievable cable routes, absent earthing detail.
Where we find something, we raise a technical query before work starts rather than solving it quietly on site. Undocumented site fixes are how an asset ends up with an as-built condition nobody knows about, which is exactly what makes the next project on that site harder than it needed to be.
Frequently asked questions
Do you carry out installation work to a design provided by the client?
Yes. We review the design first for constructability and compliance, and raise technical queries on anything that would prevent a safe or standards-compliant installation. Issues found before work starts are cheap; the same issues discovered mid-installation are rework.
What quality records should come with an electrical installation?
Torque values against specification, cable test and insulation resistance results, earth resistance measurements, inspection sign-offs at each hold point, photographic records of concealed work, and material traceability for major equipment. These should be captured during the work — records assembled after handover are reconstructions, not evidence.
Can installation work proceed while our facility stays operational?
Usually, with planning. Cable routes, containment, panels and terminations can generally be prepared while the site runs, with only the final tie-in requiring an isolation window. Prefabricating and pre-testing as much as possible off-line keeps that window as short as it can be.
Why does correct torque on terminations matter so much?
Under-torqued terminations create resistance, which creates heat, which degrades the joint further — a self-accelerating failure that is a leading cause of electrical fires and unexplained faults. Over-torquing damages conductors and terminals. Both are avoided by torquing to the manufacturer's figure with a calibrated tool and recording the value.
How do you handle unmapped underground services during excavation?
By assuming the drawings are incomplete, because on most sites they are. Service scanning precedes any excavation, trial holes are dug by hand where services are indicated or suspected, and anything found is recorded and added to the site's records — which makes the next excavation on that site safer than this one.
